I've always had oily skin. Some say it's better to have oily skin than having dry skin because you don't get wrinkles that easily. But then when you go out and your face gets oily, it somewhat gets annoying and in a way icky. Not just for you but perhaps for some other people as well. I have tried several foundations to help keep oil at bay but then I guess foundation alone isn't good enough and needs help from something else. I was browsing the forums when I came across a thread that says Maalox or Milk of Magnesia is used as a primer by some girls and is good at controlling the oilies. Even Tyra Banks uses it, according to one article I read. I do not care what products celebrities use and I don't care if Tyra Banks use this as well. I'm just after the effect and results. So I had my Mom buy me a bottle of Maalox Suspension Antacid when she went to the drugstore some time last year. It doesn't cost much, 200-250 bucks for one 180mL bottle. Since I also have hyperacidity, this could also double as a medicine for me since that's what this medicine is originally intended for. I was a bit iffy at first because it's supposed to be taken orally and not applied topically. But what the heck, I decided to give it a try. I was still into using mineral make up back then. It was indeed able to keep the oiliness at bay for quite some time but nothing really grand about it. It does help, in a way. I am a bit pleased with the results but I guess if I really want to minimize the oiliness, then I should really focus on skin care and not on what can be used to mask it instead.
Here's the Maalox that is locally available at Watson's:
WOOT: So far, I've been loving ACV (apple cider vinegar). I have been using it for a little over a week now and my skin has cleared up. Of course, there are still darn marks left due to the recent break out caused by Olay. Of course, I hafta say it again.

And I have purchased a facial soap that claims to have Obagi which is quite nice. I don't wanna spend much on Obagi because I heard it causes oilies due to having to put layers of stuff on your face. And they're creams. So far so good. But I came across this particular soap on eBay as well which claims to have been formulated by a dermatologist. I decided to buy a bar and cut a little cube first to try on me. I think I see micropeeling on my face. I'm scared.

I never went to a dermatologist because I never had acne problems when I was growing up. I remember going there only twice. Once when I was a kid and developed a rash on the left cheek because the cats sleep on my face.

And the other one, like 5 years ago when I had a pimple on my cheek which got a little infected when I accidentally scratched on it on my sleep. T'was nasty! But it was healed after 2 days

No pimple mark. Whew! That was quite long.
Going back to Maalox. Yes, it works. It works as good as my The Face Shop Span Oil Control Pre-Make Up Primer. I take back what I said about Span not working on a previous post. it does work. Well, it worked when i used traditional make up and not mineral make up. But I am loving the MAC Studio Fix + MAC Blot combo! Really works magic on my skin.

Have to go for now. Au revoir!

Oooh, 5 more days before my Ecotools brushes and ELF Studio Make up to arrive! Plus I'll see my cousin after almost 10 years of not seeing him.
